Unreleased apps are applications that haven’t quite made it to the beta phase yet. Normally developers want to get as much feedback about the app as they possibly can before the app is released to the public. As you might notice, reviews are disabled for unreleased apps; you can however send feedback to the dev that will only be visible to the team.

By using these unreleased apps and providing feedback, you are essentially helping with the development of the app. It’s a pretty smart idea, if developers can get the users to engage in testing the app and providing feedback they are essentially getting beta testing for free.

Beta testing apps takes a lot of time. When developers find bugs in apps, sometimes they are device specific meaning that they will have to code exceptions to make the app work on certain devices. These apps may be unstable, crash or not operate at all.
